Selection of Books that excite me, relating to this site Psychology of Totalitarianism The Recognition Sturas The Secret of Light Ego & Archetype Buy This Book This book explains the nature of Light and proves the existence of God by methods and standards acceptable to science and religion alike. It lays a spiritual foundation under the material one of science; one upon which the current New Age movement is built.A century and more ahead of his time, Walter Russell, in The Secret of Light presents a unique Cosmogony, that of a universe in which Creator and Creation are proven to be a seamless, unified whole, and in which the dualism of “mind and matter” disappears. In revelation of what he terms “natural science,” Russell presents a two-way, magnetic-electric thought-wave universe, cyclic in nature and eternally “creating,” as opposed to the “created, expanding, entropic universe” of current science.Russell’s philosophy of the science of Being, the invisible world of Cause—the nature of consciousness, knowing, thinking, sensing, inspiration, intuition, energy, and the creative process—and the science of Expressed Being, the visible world of Effect—the nature of light, the wave structure of universal creation, the creation of the elements that make up our visible world, and the cycle nature of life and death— are proven a unified continuum. The Secret of Light EAA Buy This Book Edward F. Edinger (December 13, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa – July 17, 1998, in Los Angeles, California) was a medical psychiatrist, Jungian analyst and American writer. This book continues the work of Car Jung, taking the next steps along the way toward describing the individuation process. Edward Edinger traces the stages in this process and relates them to the search for meaning through encounters with symbolism in religion, myth, dreams, and art. For contemporary men and women, Edinger believes, the encounter with the self is equivalent to the discovery of God. The result of the dialogue between the ego and the archetypal image of God is an experience that dramatically changes the individual's worldview and makes possible a new and more meaningful way of life. This one fell on me just when I was ready for it, two years into my searching on spirituality and Kashmiri Shaivism. It was as if everything came together, little by little, without effort, like pieces of a puzzle masterminded somewhere else. I don't know if I would have treasured it so much had I read it as a virgin from any such knowledge. But all I know is this book opened my mind, touched my heart and is going to accompany my practice from now on. I have copied and summarised chapter 18 that contains the practical tools for reaching the centre of our being, I feel guided as if I had met a guru and intend to follow each step. My gratitude

- The Choice of Third Density | Archetypal Mind Copy
A summary of the the Choice in Third density from the law of one or the Ra Material THE TWO PATHS OF THE CHOICE Provides a Summary of the Two paths of the Choice ffrom the Law OF One Small Title Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site. In the metaphysical framework of the Law of One, channeled by the entity Ra, the concept of "The Choice" is pivotal in understanding the evolution of the soul. This choice, between the paths of service to self and service to others, defines the spiritual orientation and trajectory of a being’s journey through the densities. This duality of paths offers profound insights into the nature of consciousness, morality, and the purpose of existence. The Nature of the Two Paths Service to Others (STO): Service to others is a path characterized by love, compassion, and a recognition of the unity of all beings. Those on this path seek to enhance the well-being and happiness of others, often at the expense of their own comfort or gain. This path is aligned with the principles of empathy, cooperation, and selflessness. It recognizes that the essence of true spiritual growth lies in the interconnectedness of all life, and that by serving others, one is ultimately serving the self and the One Infinite Creator. Service to Self (STS): Service to self, in contrast, is a path characterized by self-interest, power, and control. Individuals on this path prioritize their own advancement, often at the expense of others. This path is aligned with principles of self-aggrandizement, manipulation, and domination. While it may seem counterintuitive, this path also leads to spiritual growth, though through a more challenging and isolating process. It recognizes the individual’s power and autonomy but often leads to a recognition of the limitations of such an approach in the grand scheme of spiritual evolution. The Third Density: The Crucible of Choice The third density, where human beings currently exist, is specifically designed as the crucible for making this fundamental choice. In this density, the veil of forgetting obscures the memory of past lives and the deeper spiritual realities, creating an environment where free will can be exercised without preordained bias. This allows beings to make genuine choices based on their experiences, challenges, and interactions. Polarity and the Role of Free Will: Polarity is a key concept in this process. By choosing a path, individuals polarize their energy and consciousness towards either service to others or service to self. This polarization is crucial for spiritual evolution as it creates a focused direction for growth. Free will plays an essential role, as it ensures that the choice is made independently and authentically, without coercion. Characteristics of Service to Others Beings on the STO path often exhibit traits such as: Compassion and Empathy: A deep concern for the welfare of others and a willingness to help alleviate suffering. Altruism: Engaging in selfless acts that benefit others, often without expecting anything in return. Collaboration and Unity : Working towards common goals and fostering a sense of community and interconnectedness. Forgiveness and Understanding: Approaching conflicts and challenges with a mindset of reconciliation and empathy. These characteristics lead to a harmonious and supportive environment, where the collective good is prioritized. Spiritual practices on this path often include meditation, prayer, and service-oriented activities that enhance one’s ability to connect with and serve others. Characteristics of Service to Self Beings on the STS path often exhibit traits such as: Self-Centeredness: Prioritizing one’s own needs, desires, and goals above those of others. Manipulation and Control: Using others as tools or resources to achieve personal gain or power. Isolation and Competition : Viewing life as a struggle for survival where one’s success is often at the expense of others. Lack of Empathy: A diminished capacity to understand or care about the feelings and needs of others. These characteristics create an environment of tension and conflict, where individual gain is often pursued at the expense of collective harmony. Spiritual practices on this path may include rituals and exercises aimed at increasing personal power, influence, and control over one’s environment and others. The Consequences of The Choice The choice between these paths has profound implications for the soul’s journey. On the STO path, the soul grows through love and unity, eventually moving towards higher densities characterized by increased harmony and collective consciousness. On the STS path, the soul grows through power and separation, often encountering greater challenges and suffering, which eventually lead to a realization of the limitations of this path. Convergence in Higher Densities: Interestingly, Ra suggests that in higher densities, the distinctions between these paths begin to blur. Both paths ultimately lead back to the One Infinite Creator, though through different experiences and lessons. By the sixth density, beings on both paths recognize the necessity of integrating wisdom and love, leading to a convergence towards unity. Conclusion The choice between service to others and service to self is fundamental in the Law of One’s framework, shaping the soul’s journey through the densities. This choice highlights the importance of free will, the nature of polarity, and the profound impact of our decisions on our spiritual evolution. Understanding and making this choice is essential for anyone seeking to navigate their spiritual path with awareness and purpose, ultimately contributing to the grand tapestry of the universe’s evolution back to unity. A summary of the fundamentals of reality from the law of one or the Ra Material THE FUNDAMENTALS OF REALITY Provides a Summary of the Law One Definition of Reality Small Title Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site. The section "The Fundamental Nature of Reality (and Illusion) in Ra’s System" from offers a deep exploration of the metaphysical principles that shape the nature of existence and illusion within Ra's philosophical framework. Primordial Unity and the First Distortion: Ra’s system begins with the concept of an undifferentiated unity—an infinite, unified field of consciousness. The foundational event in this unified existence is that "Infinity became aware." This self-awareness introduces the First Distortion, known as Free Will, which marks the beginning of all illusion. This initial act of awareness creates a distinction between subject and object, establishing the possibility of self-exploration and interaction within the unified field. Creation and the Second Distortion: Following the establishment of Free Will, the Second Distortion, or the Creative Principle, comes into play. This principle is embodied by the Logos, a focus of intelligent energy that shapes the universe. Each Logos, acting as a unique manifestation of the Creator, forms its own experiential continuum. The Logos’ first act is to create Light, referred to as the Third Distortion. This light forms the basis of the physical universe, containing within it the same free will and awareness as the Logos. Fundamental Laws Governing Reality: Ra outlines several fundamental laws that structure reality: The Law of One: This law states that the ultimate reality is undifferentiated unity, emphasizing that all apparent separations are illusions. The Law of Free Will: This law allows for the separation and individuation within the unity, enabling the Creator to experience itself in diverse forms. The Law of Logos: This law involves the manifestation of the Creator into unique, perspectival focuses of potential, known as Logoi. The Law of Light: This law dictates that all physical matter is imbued with the desire to return to the source of creation, guiding the evolutionary process of all beings. Nature of Illusion and the Veil: Illusion is a central concept in Ra’s philosophy. The physical world and its apparent separations are seen as distortions, or illusions, that the Creator employs to experience itself. To enhance this experience, a mechanism called the "Veil" is introduced, which deepens the sense of separation. This veil conceals the true nature of reality, allowing beings to engage in a more profound journey of self-discovery and growth. It also creates the context for moral choices, such as the right-hand path (service to others) and the left-hand path (service to self), fostering the development of the soul through polarity. Path of Self-Discovery: The ultimate goal within Ra’s system is self-discovery and the realization of oneness with the Creator. Free will enables an infinite exploration of the self's potential. The universe, with all its distinctions and individual experiences, serves as a platform for the Creator to know itself in infinite variety. Evolution, in this context, is a process of progressively recognizing and embracing one's true nature as the Creator. This journey involves peeling away the layers of illusion and separation, culminating in the dissolution of these illusions and a return to the state of unity. In summary, Ra’s system presents a metaphysical framework where reality is a unified field of consciousness exploring itself through the illusions of separation, guided by fundamental laws and driven by the creative principle of the Logos. The veil of illusion deepens the experience, leading to a dynamic journey of self-discovery, where the ultimate aim is to recognize and accept oneself as the Creator, moving towards a state of oneness Next Article

A summary description of the law of one or the Ra Material Welcome to the Law of One Provides a Summary of the Law One, and its Relationship to the Archetypal Mind Small Title Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site. The Law of One, also known as the Ra Material, is a series of philosophical and spiritual teachings delivered by an entity named Ra through channelling sessions conducted by Carla Rueckert in the early 1980s. The teachings were compiled by Don Elkins and Jim McCarty, forming a comprehensive guide to understanding the nature of existence, consciousness, and spiritual evolution. Central to the Law of One is the concept that all things are fundamentally one, interconnected through a singular divine essence. Core Concepts of the Law of One Unity and Oneness: The primary tenet of the Law of One is that all of creation is part of a single, unified existence. Every being and object in the universe is interconnected and is a manifestation of the One Infinite Creator. Densities of Consciousness : Ra describes existence as a progression through various densities, or levels of consciousness, ranging from the first density of basic elements to the seventh density of unity with the Creator. Each density represents a stage of spiritual evolution and learning. Free Will and Polarity: The Law of One emphasizes the importance of free will, allowing entities to choose their path of spiritual development. Polarity, seen as the positive (service-to-others) and negative (service-to-self) paths, plays a crucial role in this development, particularly in the third density where beings consciously choose their orientation. The Archetypal Mind The concept of the archetypal mind is introduced as a key framework for understanding the deeper aspects of human consciousness and spiritual growth. The archetypal mind consists of universal patterns or blueprints that shape our mental, emotional, and spiritual experiences. According to Ra, these archetypes are tools provided by the Logos (the creative principle or divine mind) to aid in the process of evolution and self-realization. The Archetypes The archetypes in the Law of One are divided into three categories, each corresponding to an aspect of the self: the mind, the body, and the spirit. Each category contains seven archetypes, making a total of 21 archetypes that collectively represent the fundamental aspects of human experience and consciousness. Mind Archetypes : These include the Matrix, Potentiator, Catalyst, Experience, Significator, Transformation, and the Great Way of the Mind. They depict the journey of the conscious and subconscious mind, highlighting processes like perception, mental catalyst, and mental transformation. Body Archetypes: These represent physical experiences and lessons. They mirror the mind archetypes but focus on physical existence, bodily sensations, and interactions with the material world. Spirit Archetypes: These archetypes deal with the metaphysical aspects of existence. They guide the spiritual journey, illustrating how spiritual catalysts and experiences contribute to the evolution of the spirit. Application and Study Studying the archetypal mind involves deep contemplation and meditation on each archetype. This practice helps individuals gain insights into their own psyche and spiritual path. By understanding and integrating the lessons of each archetype, seekers can achieve greater self-awareness, balance, and alignment with the One Infinite Creator. In summary, the Law of One presents a holistic framework for understanding the universe, emphasizing unity, spiritual progression, and the role of free will. The archetypal mind, with its 21 archetypes, provides a structured approach to exploring the depths of human consciousness and facilitating spiritual evolution. Through the study and application of these archetypes, individuals can navigate their spiritual journey with greater clarity and purpose. Next Article

The meditative offerings in the book provide the reader with a fresh context through which to view our necessary personal development. I am asking us to step through the ‘looking glass’ out beyond the illusory perception of ‘end-times’ and join me in the process of releasing from our weary lives, all that no longer serves our deepest purpose and binds us to a past that restrains our potential. I exclaim that it is time to intervene into our own habits, dogmas and egotism, which have separated us from our true centre, from which our groundedness, wellbeing, creativity and radiance arise. These poems are shared from the daily edge of discovery, arising from my experiences of falling over ten thousand times, and standing up each time. These are poetic meditations that ask us to turn all that we know upon its head, inviting us to dissolve that which previously defined and limited us. Letting Go is a call to meet our messy, imperfect human journeys with compassion, tolerance and patience - to find the strength and determination to forgive ourselves for our acting out, playing small and rise up to remake ourselves anew in the faith of our own becoming.

The Matrix of the Body The Wild Woeman -Archetype Eight- Provides a summary of the eigth archetype of the Archetypal Mind Small Title Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site. In the Law of One material, the archetypes form a fundamental part of understanding the structure and evolution of the mind, body, and spirit. The Matrix of the Body is the archetype of the unconscious body—the automatic, instinctive coordination of all bodily processes that seeks homeostasis. It is the Wild Woman, the living manifestation of natural justice who acts without thought, motivated solely by the body’s needs and the requirement to restore balance. Overview of the Archetype The Matrix of the Body is symbolized by a female figure wearing black and white stripes, seated on a sturdy throne with her feet on a pedestal. She is blindfolded and wears an iron crown with a uraeus. She holds a sword in her right hand and a balanced scale in her left. Behind her stands a messenger bearing the feather of Ma’at. Above her flies a winged turtle beneath a canopy. Next to her a sphinx walks atop a walking lion. Symbolic Elements The Seated Figure, Throne, and Pedestal The female figure represents the unconscious body. The sturdy throne and pedestal indicate extreme stability: the archetype does not merely seek balance; it automatically recovers balance when disturbed. The black and white stripes reiterate the polarity of the physical vehicle while showing that the unconscious body operates without regard to the narrative distinctions the conscious mind imposes. Sword, Scales, and Blindfold The scales are already in balance; if they are tipped, the sword is ready to strike. The blindfold does not represent the veiling of the feminine from the masculine. It indicates that the response to imbalance is purely a function of the degree of imbalance, indifferent to any story that might explain why the imbalance was introduced. The iron crown reinforces this inflexibility: there are no exceptions to the rule of her reaction. Messenger, Winged Turtle, Sphinx, and Lion The messenger of Ma’at represents the support of universal truth. The unconscious body’s coordination of hidden motions is informed by the laws of nature themselves; it is neither whimsical nor personal. The winged turtle suggests that a slow spiritual flight is available only within the physical vehicle that carries its own home. The sphinx represents the cyclic nature of the stable flow of energy the body maintains. The lion represents the immense potential and danger of the body’s instinctive drives. Functions and Dynamics The Matrix of the Body coordinates all the automatic processes of the body so that a stable, regular flow of energy—homeostasis—is maintained. The Wild Woman does not think about what she does or why she does it. She is motivated by instinctive desires and cravings that appear in their appropriate moment. If she is attacked, she retaliates in proportion according to the principle of natural justice. Her justice is factual and empirical; it has no regard for human legal codes. She acts because the urge has built within her and she cannot hold it back. The Role of Catalysts The Matrix of the Body is the storehouse of lived experience in the physical vehicle. It keeps the score of all interventions that have helped or harmed the body. When the Potentiator of the Body intervenes in the habitual cycles of activity, the Wild Woman counterbalances that intervention as a natural response. This counterbalancing measure restores balance to the physical world and is inherently just. The response is proportional not merely to the intervention at hand but to the historical effect of that type of intervention on the body complex. Veiling and Unveiling The blindfold on the female figure indicates that the unconscious body operates without reference to the conscious mind’s explanations. The body extends beyond the skin as the personal aura; the motions of the Wild Woman include unconscious habits of interaction with the environments we inhabit. Most of our interactions with others are guided by these rote patterns, which we often never chose but adopted through imitation. The unconscious body remains veiled from conscious scrutiny precisely because its operations do not require conscious permission. Polarity and Balance As with all Matrices and Potentiators, the Matrix of the Body does not admit of polarized expression. She simply is as she is. Distorted expressions include insensitivity to attempted interventions and unintentionally arrhythmic activity that prevents intelligent potentiation. The most common distortion, however, is the refusal to enter the persona at all—preferring carefully planned action over trust in the instinctive wisdom of the unconscious body. Apparent excess or insufficiency in response is not distortion; it is the body responding to the accumulated score of prior interventions of the same type. Integration and Transformation The Matrix of the Body cannot be directly altered by will. Its patterns of activity are shaped by the history of interventions it has recorded. Working with this archetype means recognizing the habitual cycles that maintain the body and its environments, and allowing the natural justice of the Wild Woman to restore balance when those cycles are disturbed. The Potentiator of the Body is responsible for conscious intervention; the Matrix responds automatically. Integration occurs as the conscious body learns to trust the instinctive attunement of the unconscious body rather than overriding it with external instruction or purely mental calculation. Practical Application In practical terms, working with the Matrix of the Body involves noticing the automatic functions and habitual patterns that maintain the body and its immediate environments. Meditation and body-awareness practices can reveal the cycles of activity that the Wild Woman maintains without thought. The work is not to suppress instinctive responses but to observe when they restore balance and when they carry the historical score of prior trauma. By allowing the unconscious body to operate according to its own attunement, the seeker creates the stable foundation upon which the Potentiator of the Body can later intervene with greater precision. Summary The Matrix of the Body is the unconscious body—the Wild Woman who coordinates automatic processes and restores balance through natural justice without thought or narrative. Through its symbolism of the blindfolded figure with sword and scales, the messenger of Ma’at, and the cyclic sphinx and lion, it shows the extreme stability and inflexible response of the physical vehicle to imbalance. This archetype guides the seeker to recognize the instinctive wisdom of the body, to trust its automatic restoration of homeostasis, and to allow the storehouse of lived experience to inform the patterns that maintain the vehicle of incarnation. The Potentiator of the Body The Sage -Archetype Nine- Provides a summary of the ninth archetype of the Archetypal Mind Small Title Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site. In the Law of One material, the archetypes form a fundamental part of understanding the structure and evolution of the mind, body, and spirit. The Potentiator of the Body is the archetype of the conscious body—the sub-sub-Logos within that, through free will, chooses to make alterations in the experiential continuum of the physical vehicle. It is the Sage who walks in darkness with a tiny candle, intervening in the habitual cycles of the Matrix of the Body so that catalyst may arise. Overview of the Archetype The Potentiator of the Body is symbolized by a male figure standing with a walking stick in his right hand and a lamp in his left. He wears a square cape or cloak that partially hides the light of the lamp. He faces his own left, and in front of him crawl two serpents, each wearing one of the two primary Egyptian crowns. Symbolic Elements The Male Figure, Lamp, and Walking Stick The male figure represents the conscious body. The lamp is the brilliant truth of the inner sub-sub-Logos—the tiny candle with which, during incarnation, we work in darkness to correct imbalances. This candle reveals only the next step that must be taken: the alteration in the Matrix chosen by the sub-sub-Logos within. The walking stick indicates the forward motion of conscious action through the physical world. The Square Cloak The squareness of the cloak symbolizes the physical world itself. The physical world partially hides the light of the inner sub-sub-Logos from everyone else. It represents the veil between self and other: the wisdom in one’s own actions and the intentions that drive them is not clearly visible to others. The light of the inner Logos is obscured to all but the conscious body itself. The Two Serpents The serpents that precede the figure represent wisdom, especially in their raised, uraeus position. The crowns on the two serpents indicate the outward and inward qualities of kingship. The conscious body follows along behind both the outward wisdom commonly known as prudence and the inward wisdom experienced as a clear sense of what must be done for the sake of some higher purpose. Functions and Dynamics The activity of the conscious body is transparent to itself. We are aware of our conscious reasons for acting and we understand how these reasons fit together with our conscious beliefs and the circumstance in which we find ourselves. The Sage is characterized by his willingness to do what seems to him like a good idea to do. Formulating an appropriate plan of action causes within us a desire to enact that plan; it is irresistible. Even when others say the plan is unwise, the Sage finds himself doing it anyway. This intervention in the Matrix of the Body inevitably produces catalyst in the form of unexpected consequences. The production of catalyst is why the Sage’s activity is wise: there are no mistakes. The Role of Catalysts The Potentiator of the Body is responsible for conscious intervention in the habitual cycles maintained by the Matrix of the Body. Whatever action the Potentiator takes will affect the Wild Woman’s patterns of activity. The Matrix responds by counterbalancing the intervention, and this counterbalancing measure becomes the catalyst that records experience. The Sage does not merely observe; he is the original actor whose conscious observation of patterned activity leads him to judgments about what ought to be done, and these judgments motivate him all the way to action. Veiling and Unveiling The square cloak shows that the light of the inner Logos is partially hidden by the physical world itself. Others cannot clearly see the wisdom that guides the conscious body’s actions. Following the hidden wisdom of one’s own small candle is an isolating experience; to others, the individualism of walking one’s own path of appropriate action can look like folly. The veil between self and other remains, yet the conscious body itself has access to the next step revealed by the sub-sub-Logos within. Polarity and Balance As with all Matrices and Potentiators, the Potentiator of the Body does not admit of polarized expression in the same way that Catalyst and Experience archetypes do. The wisdom of this persona is not the far-seeing clarity of the wise old man. It is the deep wisdom of the sub-sub-Logos within, which has no regard for the petty concerns of the individual life. What may look to others like a grave mistake in judgment turns out to be a crucial experience without which the individual may not have developed the proper sensitivity to the nuances of activity in his environment. Integration and Transformation The Potentiator of the Body cannot be forced into purity by will. Its function is to intervene according to the light available at the moment. When a course of action produces unpleasant consequences that lead us to say “I’m never doing that again,” it is not the Sage who has learned something; the Sage’s activity remains the same. The learning is recorded in the Matrix of the Body as an alteration of habitual cycles. Integration occurs as the conscious body learns to trust the small lamp of the sub-sub-Logos rather than seeking external validation or perfect foresight. Each intervention prepares the ground for the catalyst that will eventually call for Transformation in the body cycle. Practical Application In practical terms, working with the Potentiator of the Body involves noticing the judgments that arise about what ought to be done in the physical world and observing the irresistible desire to enact those judgments. Meditation and honest self-inquiry can reveal when the small lamp of the sub-sub-Logos is being followed and when external opinions or fear of isolation are overriding it. The work is not to eliminate unexpected consequences but to recognize that the production of catalyst is the purpose of the Sage’s activity. By allowing the conscious body to act according to the next step revealed by the inner light, the seeker creates the conditions under which the Matrix of the Body can respond and the cycle of catalyst and experience can continue. Summary The Potentiator of the Body is the conscious body—the Sage who walks in darkness with a tiny candle, intervening in the habitual cycles of the Matrix of the Body so that catalyst may arise. Through its symbolism of the lamp, the square cloak, and the two crowned serpents, it shows how the sub-sub-Logos within reveals the next step of action while the physical world itself veils that light from others. This archetype guides the seeker to trust the irresistible judgment of the conscious body, to accept the unexpected consequences that follow as the necessary production of catalyst, and to allow the small lamp of the inner Logos to illuminate the path of appropriate action. - Transformation of the Body | Archetypal Mind Copy
The Transformation of the Body -Archetype Thirteen- Provides a summary of the thirteenth archetype of the Archetypal Mind Small Title Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site. In the Law of One material, the archetypes form a fundamental part of understanding the structure and evolution of the mind, body, and spirit. The Transformation of the Body depicts the process of transition from one configuration of the Significator of the Body to the next. Like all Transformation archetypes, it has a transitional persona that appears at the threshold between two very different states of consciousness. It has two sides to its expression—a before and an after—the after presenting a mystery to the state of consciousness of the before. The body transforms through reconstitution of both conscious and unconscious approaches to the body, set in motion by the development of critical distance between the subjective witness and the mind’s total conception of its body as a vehicle for manifestation. Overview of the Archetype The Transformation of the Body is symbolized by a skeleton that uses a scythe to reap human hands, feet, and heads of both masculine and feminine forms. The skeleton faces its left, and behind the skeleton there is a rainbow. Symbolic Elements The Skeleton and the Scythe The reaping skeleton is the point of perspective in this archetype. He is the Traveler, the subjective witness whose nature is to be stripped of all nonessential attachments to the current details of his life. The Traveler has set aside history, aspirations, worries, and emotional biases. The Traveler’s frame of mind is skeletal; they want to be the empty frame onto which a new way of existing in the world can be built. In this frame of mind they turn their attention to an examination of the past, as represented by the heads, hands, and feet. The Heads, Hands, and Feet The heads represent the past mental approach to the events in the world. The male heads, representing the previous perspective as Catalyst, use these events to trace reactions back to previous action or inaction. The female heads, representing the previous process of Experience, use the understanding of the Catalyst to decide how to rearrange the energy flows of the body and the environment. The hands represent previous actions as well as the consequences they have been observed to bring about. The feet represent the previous holistic way of life—a symbol of the previous Significator as a whole. The act of reaping is not mere killing. Death collects the old ways for examination so that the useful may be sifted from the useless. Death is harvesting and culling as it harvests. The Rainbow The rainbow has two meanings. The first is a symbol of rebirth, as rainbows can be seen after a destructive storm, reminding of the beauty that still remains and of the fertility of the ground. The second is a symbol of the seven energy centers, indicating that the rebirth of the body affects all levels of bodily concern, from actions that seek to secure survival to those that seek to discover the sacredness of each moment. Functions and Dynamics The Reaper has come to see the error of their way. Their entire way of life has begun to seem unsustainable. The Reaper sees the harmful patterns of behavior more clearly than ever before and has concluded that small reforms will no longer suffice. They need a deep and lasting change, a reconstitution of the way of life from the ground up. The Reaper wants to shut down the economy of the household, tear the entire house down, rebuild, and then restart the system. The method is negative: the Reaper draws upon all the various events that have revealed what is not wanted. Body and environment have become uncomfortable and unsupportive. Whatever comes next will have to be something very different from this toxic way of living. The Role of Catalysts The Transformation of the Body arises when the Traveler has developed sufficient critical distance from the current Significator of the Body. The tension between the Fool and the Significator enters into the dynamic interplay between conscious and unconscious mind as these two relate to the body as a vehicle. The Traveler becomes aware of the roles that both the conscious and unconscious minds have played in deciding how to interpret the events of the physical world and reflects on what might now be different. On the personal level this often follows a major event that shakes the inner witness into critical distance from standard habits concerning the body. On the interpersonal level it appears when patterns of behavior in a relationship have made it toxic. On the social level the Reaper is a Revolutionary who judges that reform of a system is no longer an option. Veiling and Unveiling The skeleton represents the Traveler stripped of nonessential attachments. The veil between conscious and unconscious approaches to the body remains, yet the act of reaping allows both to be examined as a corpse and as a whole. The only way the two sides will see a promising way forward is through stepping back to examine their relationship with the kind of scrutiny and objective distance that comes from no longer being invested in its continuance. They must both consider their previous relationship to be dead so that a new contract of mutual treatment can be discovered. Polarity and Balance The right-hand path Reaper commits to a new respect for the boundaries of both self and other, as well as a new consideration for their own needs. This Reaper wants to let go of the need to enforce will on others and to learn sensitivity to the threshold between action that does not violate free will and action that does. The change is achieved primarily through removal of temptations. The left-hand path Reaper takes stock of actions and inactions to determine whether and how they have been failing their own aspirations. This Reaper wants to identify weaknesses that make them soft and receptive to others, and to cut them out. Mixed expressions are the common condition; pure polarized expressions are the ideals toward which Transformation moves. Integration and Transformation The Reaper’s function is to reconstitute the dynamic economy of both body and physical environment. The empowering capacity is the ability to examine the past without letting attachment to the way things have been influence judgment about the way they ought to be. Distorted expressions include the undisciplined Reaper who attempts radical change but falls back on old ways, and the Reaper who reconstitutes the wrong parts of the self because causal relationships have been misjudged. Integration occurs as the Traveler’s critical distance allows both sides of the persona to examine the previous relationship as dead and to discover a contract of mutual treatment that both can agree to. When that contract is found, the Significator of the Body is reconfigured and the cycle of catalyst and experience continues at a higher degree of polarity. Practical Application In practical terms, working with the Transformation of the Body involves recognizing when patterns of behavior toward the body or its environments have become unsustainable and when small reforms will no longer suffice. Meditation and honest self-inquiry can reveal the events that have shown what is not wanted and the attachments that prevent a deep change. The work is not to force a radical reconstitution before critical distance has developed but to notice when the Traveler has already stepped back and is ready to examine the previous way of life as a corpse. By allowing the Reaper to harvest and cull the old ways, the seeker creates the conditions under which a new configuration of the Significator of the Body may be born. Summary The Transformation of the Body is the transitional threshold at which the Traveler reaps the previous configuration of the Significator of the Body so that a new way of living in the physical vehicle may be reconstituted. Through its symbolism of the skeleton reaping heads, hands, and feet, and the rainbow of rebirth and the energy centers, it shows how critical distance from the current Homesteader allows both conscious and unconscious approaches to the body to be examined as dead and how a new contract of mutual treatment may be discovered. This archetype guides the seeker to recognize when the current way of life has become unsustainable, to examine the past without attachment, and to allow the Reaper to harvest what is useful so that the body complex may be reconfigured and the cycle of catalyst and experience may continue. - The Catalyst of the Body | Archetypal Mind Copy
The Catalyst of the Body The Affected -Archetype Ten- Provides a summary of the tenth archetype of the Archetypal Mind Small Title Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site. In the Law of One material, the archetypes form a fundamental part of understanding the structure and evolution of the mind, body, and spirit. The Catalyst of the Body is the archetype of the body as potentiated self. It is the perspective of observation that encompasses all sensory information and the energetic web of the body complex. The persona of this archetype is the Affected—the one who is present to and seeks to understand the catalytic activity that arises when the Wild Woman responds to the Sage’s intervention. Overview of the Archetype The Catalyst of the Body is symbolized by a wheel held in place by two columns. At the base of the columns is a winged orb with two snakes rising on either side. The wheel has an inner ring and an outer ring held together by eight spokes. On the left side of the wheel, Typhon or Set rides the gravitational swing downward. On the right side, Hermanubis climbs the turning wheel upward. Above the wheel a circular platform holds a sphinx with a spear aimed at the right side of the wheel. Symbolic Elements The Wheel and the Columns The wheel represents the body complex and its energy web. Everything in the physical world with which one interacts is part of the body complex because the aura extends at least fifty feet beyond the skin. The turning of the wheel is the constant cyclical motion of the body complex. The two columns represent the foundational construction of the third-density illusion as a world of moral polarity. The pillars of good and evil support the entire energy web of the body; there is no possibility of escape from experience with and choice between these forces. Hermanubis, Typhon, and the Spokes Hermanubis and Typhon represent the energies and entities attracted to the body according to the specific condition of its energy web. This attraction is akin to magnetism: some influences bring pleasure, comfort, and fortune; others bring pain, discomfort, and misfortune. The eight spokes represent the octaves of experience expressed in the energy centers of the body and their manifestations as primal drives. The eighth spoke is hidden behind the pillars because the eighth energy center, representing the beginning of the next octave, remains outside ordinary experience. The Sphinx and the Winged Orb The sphinx stands on a platform above the wheel and represents the conscious body after the potentiating action: all that remains is to wait for the intended effect. Its four component animals correspond to the four virtuous activities of the magician—to know, to will, to dare, and to be silent—characterizing the Sage at his most virtuous. The sphinx faces left and is armed against the left-hand side, indicating that negatively polarizing catalyst is easier to see and that defense and attack are characteristic of the left-hand path. On the right side the sphinx is vulnerable, indicating the importance of disarming oneself on the right-hand path. The winged orb at the base is the sigil of the covenant with spirit. Functions and Dynamics The Catalyst of the Body is the offspring of a potentiated matrix. The catalytic activity is the Wild Woman’s reaction to the Sage’s action—a pure expression of natural justice that enacts a subtle reflection of the potential coiled in the Sage’s initial intervention. Fortune and misfortune befall the body through events that seem unconnected and random. The Affected does not process the catalyst; he is present to it and reveals its nature as interpreted through his own lens. He believes that some previous action or pattern of actions has caused the current circumstance and sets himself to the task of working out how he has brought it upon himself. Even inaction is action. The Role of Catalysts The function of the Affected is to allow the catalytic activity of the body to be known to and understood by the mind in as detailed a way as possible. The clearer the Affected can get about the specific actions taken and how they caused the outcomes observed, the more productive the processing of the catalyst will be. He is motivated by the desire to calm the volatile and apparently random mechanisms of the physical world. His empowering capacity is the ability to hold complex causal relationships before awareness all at once. His virtues are the conviction that every apparently random event has an explanation that can be traced back to prior action and the ability to notice the minute details of an event. Veiling and Unveiling The inner and outer wheel refer to the inner and outer natures of the body. The laws of physical motion and the workings of the body are largely hidden from conscious awareness. The deeper nature of the body is ethereal rather than merely physical. Because this ethereal body is not understood, conceptualization of the body complex tends to remain on the outer level of causal physical interactions. The wheel within the wheel suggests the attractiveness of materialistic explanations that cannot dig beneath the surface. Both fortune and misfortune hold to the inner wheel; their true causes cannot be understood until the workings of the inner wheel are grasped. Polarity and Balance In right-hand path polarization the Affected is Contrite. Unfortunate events tend to polarize positive; the Contrite takes responsibility for each action, feels remorse for boundary violations and neglected chances for service, and does not attempt to defend himself. He is grateful for blessings but does not believe he uniquely deserves them. In left-hand path polarization the Affected is Emboldened. Fortunate events tend to polarize negative; the Emboldened examines past behavior to maximize the ability to bring fortune to himself and publicly takes credit for his causal role. When misfortune arrives he examines his actions to become more subtle so that he is less likely to be caught. Mixed expressions are the common condition; pure polarized expressions are the ideals toward which Transformation moves. Integration and Transformation The Affected does not process catalyst; he makes its nature available to the mind. Processing occurs in the Experience of the Body. Distorted expressions include the view that apparently random events really are random, so that catalyst rarely enters the mind for integration, and a lack of sensitivity to circumstances as they present themselves. Integration occurs as the Affected learns to hold the complex causal relationships of the body’s energy web before awareness without defense or denial. Each clear recognition of how prior action produced current fortune or misfortune prepares the ground for the Experience of the Body and, eventually, for Transformation in the body cycle. Practical Application In practical terms, working with the Catalyst of the Body involves noticing when fortune or misfortune has befallen the body or its immediate environment and setting oneself to the task of tracing the causal relationships back to prior conscious action or inaction. Meditation and honest self-inquiry can reveal the minute details of events that the Affected is uniquely able to notice. The work is not to force an immediate change of behavior but to remain present to the catalytic activity long enough for its nature to become clear. By allowing the Affected to examine the consequences of the Sage’s intervention without defense or denial, the seeker creates the conditions under which the Experience of the Body can integrate the catalyst and the cycle of the body can continue. Summary The Catalyst of the Body is the body as potentiated self—the Affected who is present to and seeks to understand the catalytic activity that arises when the Wild Woman responds to the Sage’s intervention. Through its symbolism of the wheel, the columns of polarity, Hermanubis and Typhon, and the sphinx, it shows how the energy web of the body attracts fortune and misfortune according to prior action and how the conscious body waits for the intended effect. This archetype guides the seeker to remain present to the apparently random events of the physical world, to trace them back to prior conscious intervention, and to allow the nature of the catalyst to become clear so that the Experience of the Body may integrate it.
